Java Components for Well Schematic Data Visualization

image

J/WellSchematic is a member of the J/GeoToolkit family that provides visualization components and data object models for visualizing down-hole equipment found in a well throughout its lifecycle, including drilling, completion, production and workover operations.

J/WellSchematic is designed to provide a flexible and high-quality graphic engine to accommodate the needs of a variety of applications such as well design, BHA displays for monitoring drilling operations or detailed wellbore schematic and well intervention visualization.

Features

Flexible Data Object API
An object data model is provided to describe all the down-hole components and associated data in a hierarchical structure. A published API provides a simple yet powerful mechanism to populate the schematic model from any datastore or file format.

Scalable symbols
To provide quality schematic symbols over a large range of display scales, the primary mechanism for specifying symbols is SVG (Scaleable Vector Graphics). SVG is an XML based standard that supports a rich set of graphic primitives and can be exported directly from most commercial CAD packages. SVG also supports raster images for symbols that cannot be made available in vector formats.

Extensible Symbol Set
Over 100 high quality symbols covering casing, tubing, drilling, perforations and cements are provided with the toolkit, with more being added on a regular basis.

Shape Prototype Library
The shape prototype library offers a simple yet powerful interface for choosing or constructing a symbol for a specific data component. Applications can access user properties to pick the proper symbol (pump type, manufacturer, etc.) or even build a symbol on the fly (pin up/down, fishing collar, stabilizer, etc.).

Animation
Symbols can be animated using the standard SVG animation feature controlled from a simple API provided in the toolkit. Animation of an entire schematic display can also be obtained by changing the data model interactively, (for example, to view the evolution of a well over time.)

Flexible Display
View containers control how the schematic are drawn on the screen. Three different view containers are provided:

Compressed View
Used to display a nonlinear view of the entire well.

Linear View
Provides a linear view of the schematic string at a user-specified scale.

Log Track View
Schematic can be inserted into a Log track created with J/WellLog, allowing the visualization of schematics next to log curves, lithologies, etc.

Easy Navigation
Events can be registered for easy navigation between the displays. The compressed view container can be used to navigate into a linear or log track view

Flexible Labeling
Support for a single or multi-line labels. Labels can be displayed left, right, or on both sides. Objects to be labeled and text of labels can be customized by application. Custom strategies can be plugged in for providing various different labeling strategies. Labels can be provided as text or as any J/Carnac shape or combination of shape.

Printing and reporting
Full Printing functionality is provided, including print preview, one page summary printing, continuous printing and support for reporting.

Documentation
J/WellSchematic comes with a complete set of documentation including API reference, architectural overview and tutorials.

Availability
