Navigation QC Plugins
This set of INTViewer plugins
is designed for the analysis and QC of marine navigation data. It consists
of 3 different workflows.
Data Preparation Workflow
Because of the huge size of
most marine surveys, we have designed a file format (xnav) that is efficient
for handling big surveys. It is fast and allows the caching of receiver
data to disk to make the analysis workflows memory efficient.
Some of the tasks performed
by this workflow include:
- Import of Navigation
data from P1-90 or Segy files into xnav format.
- Reprojection of
P-190 files
- Generation of edit
files that can be used to specify receiver locations that should be
removed from a survey.
Navigation QC Worklow
This workflow let you load
a survey into a map view, displays sources and receivers. You can enter
or calculate a grid and optimize it. The workflow let you generate maps,
including Water bottom, fold and deviation maps. For each map you can
specify the offset class and an azimuth range. Maps can be saved in
various formats including P1, Handvel and ASCII formats.
- Display of navigation
data in a map view
- XY or INLINE/XLINE
display modes
- Over 3000 projections
supported for XY view
- Display of sources
and selected receivers.
- Overlay of GIS data
(shape files)
- Labeling of sources
- Display of binning
grid
- Panning, zooming
and printing of maps (including CGM and PDF output)

|
- Grids
- Loading of grid
from file or manually
- Automatic calculation
of grid
- Optimization of
grid (“best fit” based on optimization minimum distance of CMP from
bin center for a specified set of offset classes)
|
|
- Tools
- Survey Tooltip for
sources and receivers
- Calculation of distance
and bearing
- Generation of Rose
diagram
- Survey Statistics
- Interactive specification
of edit file (list of receivers to remove)
|
|
- Maps
- Water Bottom Map
- Receiver Fold Map
- CDP Fold Map
- Deviation Map
- Feather Map
- Display of generated
maps in map view
- Saving of maps into
P1, Handvel or ASCII formats.

4D Binning Workflow
The Binning 4D Workflow provides
tools to analyze two similar surveys collected at different times. It
is ultimately used to find matching CMPs between data sets that have
similar characteristics, so that corresponding traces can be directly
compared. The "Base" survey is the first survey recorded,
and the "Monitor" survey is recorded later. The final product
of this workflow is a set of edit
files that can be used
to filter out non matching traces from the surveys.
- Data Loading
- Specify base and
monitor survey
- Import surveys from
SPS, P1-90 or xnav formats.
- Grids
- Loading of grid
from file or manually
- Automatic calculation
of grid
- Optimization of
grid (“best fit” based on optimization minimum distance of CMP from
bin center for a specified set of offset classes)
- Calculation of CMP
data for histogram generation
- Histograms
- Histogram of distance
between corresponding shots
- Histogram of distance
between corresponding receivers
- Histogram of the
sum of the distance between corresponding shots and receivers
- Histogram of CMP
distances (for base, monitor or both)
- Maps
- Map of the closest
CMP’s of each bin for a given offset class range.
- Other maps as in
the Navigation QC workflow
- Output
- An edit file that
contains a list of all the traces that don’t match the minimum
CMP requirements.
