INT
Rounds Out Graphics Library Offering With New Java 3D Software
Previews
of J/View3D and J/Seismic Movie Presented at SEG
SEG,
New Orleans, LA (September 14, 1998) Interactive Network Technologies, Inc.
(INT), the leading developer of high performance Java based graphics solutions
and software for the Exploration & Production (E&P) Industry, announced
today that it will preview its new Java 3D visualization toolkit, J/View3D at
the INT booth (#2323) at the SEG in New Orleans.
J/View3D toolkit, based
on Sun’s Java 3D, is designed to simplify the process of building 3D scientific
visualization applications under Java. This toolkit provides a set of high-level
classes that allow programmers to quickly build complex 3D visualization applications.
J/View3D is fully integrated with other INT tools. As an example, INT will
demonstrate how J/Seismic and J/View3D can be integrated. J/Seismic movie feature
can be used generate in real-time slices in a 3D volume for viewing inside J/View3D.
This new functionality will allow E&P programmers the ability to easily integrate
support for 3D seismic visualization in their applications.
J/Seismic
is part of INT J/GeoToolkit, an easy-to-use supplemental library that permits
programmers to fast-track their development of graphics applications for the Java
platform. J/Carnac, the technology that supports J/GeoToolkit, is a graphics rendering
technology and INT’s core Java technology.
J/Carnac combines cross-platform
functionality with high performance and extensibility. Programmers of almost any
level of experience can learn to use J/Carnac in a short amount of time.
Java Roadmap
INT has stepped up its development of 100%
pure Java components and is working to offer a complete set of off-the-shelf 2D
and 3D visualization toolkits to address the needs of the Oil & Gas Industry.
INT’s current version of J/Carnac is using some C++ code to handle the graphics
primitives more efficiently. INT is now working on release 2.0, which will be
based on the new Java 2D graphics library from Sun and remove all dependencies
from C++.
"These new features will broaden our Java scope. INT
will always look for new innovative ways to continue to expand the technology
stack," said Olivier Lhemann, president of INT. "We have received positive
feedback and great interest from major oil companies and software vendors who
want to incorporate pure Java components into their applications."
Availability
J/Carnac 2.0 and J/View 3D will be available in January
1999, on all platforms supporting Sun’s implementation of jdk1.2.
