INT
Debuts New Dedicated Java Graphics Website
j-extreme.int.com Will Offer Free Downloads Of J/Carnac And J/View3D
San Francisco,
CA and Houston, TX (June 14, 1999) Interactive Network Technologies, Inc.
(INT), the leading developer of high performance Java based graphics toolkits,
announced today the debut of j-extreme.int.com, its new dedicated Java graphics
website. Visitors can download INT's Java 2D and 3D graphics toolkits—J/Carnac
and J/View3D—for free, along with product information, demos, and tutorials. As
the site evolves, it will include timely news items, programming tips, programming
contests, data loaders, and articles on innovative applications and applets as
well as expanding product information, technical support, demos and tutorials.
Two-fold Purpose
The purpose of the site is two-fold. First,
INT is addressing a universal need for easy-to-use and reliable 2D and 3D graphics
tools, developed in a professional environment, from Java programming experts.
INT is making these products available to reach a broader audience—satellite imaging,
telecommunications, financial industry, medical, defense—that otherwise might
not have access to high performance toolkits.
Second, confident
in J/Carnac and J/View3D's technical functionality, INT envisions these toolkits
to become the de facto standard in the scientific data visualization markets.
While the primary focus of this site is free graphics tools, it is INT’s goal
to make the site a premier Java graphics destination for programmers.
INT Background
INT's programming roots began in C/C++, but when the
Internet emerged as a popular form of information exchange, INT customers wanted
toolkits that enabled them to display and visualize scientific data through a
web browser. INT was one of the first software companies to convert its C++ toolkits
to Java.
"We began experimenting with Java beginning three and
a half years ago. As the language evolved, we’ve been able to expand our product
line.," said Olivier Lhemann, president, INT. "We built a dedicated Java graphics
site because of our commitment to high quality graphics tools and to Java."
The Versatile J/Carnac
J/Carnac provides a simple to learn, extensible
architecture that allows a programmer to rapidly develop graphical applications.
Written entirely in Java, J/Carnac utilizes SUN's Java 2D™ API to provide a cross-platform
rendering system, but offers the programmer much more. It includes high level
classes to handle shape organization, view management, and interactive geometry
manipulation. J/Carnac Beta 1 will be available June 22, 1999.
The Flexible J/View3D
J/View3D is the first INT toolkit
developed exclusively for Java. Built on top of Java 3D, the J/View3D toolkit
is a high-performance, cross-platform, easy-to-use 3D visualization tool that
enables programmers to facilitate and speed up the visualization of 3D scientific
data. The toolkit comes with a high-level API and provides the ability to visualize,
manipulate, annotate, and edit a set of 3D objects. Moreover, programmers do not
need any Java 3D experience. J/View3D Beta 2 is currently available; first customer
ship is expected on June 15, 1999.
INT TechSource Consulting
For companies that would like to use J/Carnac or J/View3D for their graphics application
development but are impeded by lack of time and resources, INT offers TechSource
, a full-service consulting team. TechSource provides design and programming,
project management, education/training, operations assessment, and prototype development.
